Skin cancer detection took centre stage at New Zealand’s Parliament, where ministers and officials received professional skin spot checks as part of an exclusive roundtable event hosted by the Skin Cancer College.
This initiative highlighted the growing importance of early skin cancer detection — and the critical role that technology played in managing efficient and secure skin checks, even in high-pressure environments.

This event served not only as a practical health measure but as a strong public message: skin cancer doesn’t discriminate. According to Victoria Beedle, 14% of skin checks identified potential skin cancers, which require follow-up. From frontline clinicians to national decision-makers, early detection is vital for all.
Regular skin checks are a critical tool in preventing advanced melanoma and other skin cancers. By facilitating spot checks at Parliament, this initiative highlighted both the importance of skin health and the power of modern digital tools in making large-scale screenings possible.
Stepping outside the clinic and into Parliament, clinicians faced a unique set of challenges — tight timeframes, an unfamiliar setting, and the expectation to deliver expert care at a high standard.
Using a digital skin check platform gave them the structure and support needed to perform efficiently and professionally. They were able to focus more on their clinical assessments, knowing that image capture, documentation, and reporting were all handled seamlessly in the background.
What stood out was how much confidence and clarity the system provided. With every check:
For many clinicians, events like this serve as a turning point. Once they've experienced a streamlined, centralised approach to skin checks, it becomes clear how much time, stress, and duplication can be avoided — not only in special events, but in everyday practice.
The result? More time with patients. Less time on admin. Greater confidence in delivering consistent care — wherever it’s needed.
